Stability and Versatility in CRM Hardware

New technology is arriving every day with faster connectivity, functionality and application use. With each new piece of hardware Cable CRM expectations rise with projected increases in sales and customer care efficiency. However, to achieve the desired results other factors; such as durability and a stable operating platform must also be considered.

Why Durability and a Consistent Operating Platform are a Must

Without a consistent operating software platform on hardware, DSMs and DSRs will end up with various operating systems. This limits interactive communications, lowers efficiency as well as increasing the TCO due to efforts required to update and maintain software OS and their compatibility.

Durability (ruggedness) is also crucial as DSRs need CRM handheld devices that can withstand the day-to-day rigors of bumps, drops and moisture.

Note on IP Ratings

An IP rating (Ingress Protection) is an internationally recognized classification system to measure how well electrical equipment such as mobile devices and laptops protect against foreign bodies like dust and water. The first number is for dust and the second for water. For example, an IP rating of 5X means the device is dust proof (dust can still enter) but an IP6X rating means it is dust tight (no dust may enter). On a similar note, only an IP rating of 67 is dust and waterproof.

Wrapping up the CRM Device Comparison

The important of ruggedness comes into play when the TCO of devices is calculated. Cheaper devices may work well at first but they are far more likely to need to be replaced.

The more often a device needs to be replaced, the greater the involvement of your IT department as it is unlikely that the Sales department will maintain replacement stock or inventory. Does your Sales department like dealing with IT?

The key is obtaining devices for your Cable CRM that can take a beating with minimal needs for OS changes. Ruggedness and stability lowers the TCO.

Quality Cable CRM software uses mobile devices that have both durability and a consistent operating platform. Don’t let your Cable CRM get bogged down with uptime and dependability issues.

Tell us how well your handheld devices hold up to wear and tear.
