Marriott Hotels Use Flexible Tool to Improve Guest Experiences
DUNEDIN, FLA. — June 29, 2005 — Mintek Mobile Data Solutions today announced the 250th installation of WinTrack® PM, the lodging industry’s leading mobile preventive maintenance (PM) solution, at the Horseshoe Bay Resort Marriott in Horseshoe Bay, Texas. WinTrack® PM enables Marriott associates at the Horseshoe Bay Resort Marriott and more than 200 other Marriott International Inc. managed hotels in North America to proactively maintain guest rooms, public spaces and related equipment to deliver positive experiences for guests.

Barcode technology helps deliver positive guest experiences
Marriott associates use WinTrack® PM handheld scanning devices to read barcodes placed on equipment. When the barcodes are scanned, the tool prompts associates with information about the equipment’s maintenance needs and history and guides associates through the preventive maintenance requirements for that equipment. Marriott hotels are also using WinTrack® PM to conduct hotel rounds and inspections, where the tool provides feedback to associates about utility meters and levels, together with information on addressing an item if it is not functioning properly.
WinTrack® PM records each step of the maintenance and review process, adding greater levels of accountability for hotels in managing their physical plants. The tool’s Maintenance Portal consolidates hotel data, allowing Marriott to monitor information on a regional basis and work with individual hotels to address issues. This above-property reporting capability promotes operational consistency across geographies so that Marriott guests have an enjoyable experience wherever they stay.
WinTrack® PM and Maintenance Portal are part of the Mintek Lodging Asset Management Suite, which also includes Asset Director and Alerts. Asset Director is a flexible Web-based management system that provides the ability to track thousands of assets at multiple properties by centralizing access to asset information. In combination with the Maintenance Portal, Alerts is a proactive maintenance reporting tool used to notify managers of equipment issues, such as overdue maintenance, by e-mail or pager based on criteria they establish.
